Tarana and Oberon

Monday drives are popular with 12 Ferraris on this run. This included two very new 458 Speciales, two 458, 430 Scuderia, three 308, 355, 360, 575 and California.

The past week in Sydney had experienced some of the worst storms of the century at the start of the week, followed by the worst hail on the Saturday. So Monday turned out to be the only completely sunny day for the last week.

Our trip started at the historic centre of Windsor with breakfast and coffee.

We departed to Mt Victoria via the Old Bells Line of Road and experienced an element of excitement when we passed many old open wheeler Bentleys going the opposite directly, giving a flashback to the previous years.

Stopping at Mt Victoria we conducted a briefing about what to expect on the road to Tarana: dips, crests, and blind corners.

Our drive to Tarana was thoroughly enjoyable. Virtually no traffic.

We stopped at the Tarana pub for a drink (coffee), then headed onto Oberon.

At Oberon we enjoyed coffee at a shop in the main street, where the locals enjoyed our cars and told us to come back real soon because Oberon likes exotic cars and historic cars.

Next destination was Little Hartley, and again there was virtually no traffic on route. From there we connected with the Great Western Hwy and then down to the recently renovated Hydro Majestic Hotel.

We all enjoyed a wonderful lunch in The Boiler Cafe where we stayed for nearly 2 hours.

From there everyone headed home in different directions. Most were home by 5pm after a day of a lot of driving, socialising and experiencing the beauty of the Blue Mountains.

It was an outstanding day for driving on these wonderful country roads.

Drive Day–Sublime Point

The weather has been bad in Sydney for the past week but that didn’t prevent members coming out in force for today’s drive to Sublime Point Lookout.

The day started with breakfast at Double Bay, with extra helpings of bacon and caffeine to assist negotiating city traffic before our trip south.

The next stop was at Kyeemagh, just past the airport, to pick up some additional cars and then head south through the Royal National Park.

A quick stop was in order after clearing the Royal National Park at Stanwell Tops to take in the fantastic views and the unfortunately hostile weather approaching from across the Tasman.

Our final stop was Sublime Point restaurant where we were treated to prompt service, excellent food and warm welcomes from the friendly staff as we looked across the bleak inbound weather while enjoying lunch and great conversation.

Although the weather could have been better it didn’t spoil the day and it was fantastic to see so many members brave the conditions and enjoy the day. Thanks everyone for making it worthwhile to come out in the rain.

Le Montage–April

Another fine day for the third Sunday of the month and that means the regular supercar get together at Le Montage at Lilyfield.

Ferrari was again well represented in all makes and models.

However, there is more than just the odd Ferrari to see

This month saw the new McLaren 650S Spider

The older MP4-12C.

but nothing beats a lot full of Ferraris,

and as you can see there were plenty!

We look forward to doing it all again next month.
